They vary based on the type of experiment, however, and for some experiments specific techniques may be necessary. Here are some common techniques that are used in most labs.Chemical Reactions. This is a method of breaking down a mixture into its components, usually a base and an acid, then combining them together to form a new substance. An example of this would be hydrochloric acid and water, which are used in making a simple cleaning product. This is also used in many chemical reactions.Oxidation Process. This is a process where molecules are chemically altered in such a way that they will combine with each other to form new substances. There are many different types of oxidation, including oxidation of oxygen, and reduction. These two are more commonly used in laboratories than the other types. Oxidation is used in many chemical reactions to combine elements together and create different compounds.Solvents. This is a mixture of solid and liquid materials that is usually mixed together to create a mixture of solids and liquids. They are used for removing oils from clothing, to remove stains from cloth, and for disinfecting, among other things. Solvents can be used in various ways to help perform experiments.Concentrated Gas. This is a mixture of gases which has been stirred up and compressed. Find out where your library is located its even helpful to know how long it takes to get there from your dorm and take a tour around the stacks. Check out where you can find books related to your major or course of study, in addition to the reserve, audio, and video sections. Throughout the library, youll see tables set aside for studying and doing work, and computers you can use if you dont want to bring your own. The second English pronunciation resource, a mirror! Seriously, if you have done research into linguistics and language learning you will learn that children watch peoples mouths. So if you have YouTube and a mirror you can practice watching the mouths of English speakers and then watching yourself say things in the mirror. Different language speakers hold their mouths differently. You can learn more about that in our intensive pronunciation series. One of the best English teachers I have ever known was a colleague from Argentina, her accent and pronunciation was nearly perfect.
